Services Account
A "Services Account" enables you to access a number of important applications at Fermilab with a single username/password. Applications now available via the "Services Account" are: Fermilab Service Desk, Fermilab Time and Labor Reporting(FTL), and Fermilab Exchange Email. Over time, more and more applications will come under the "Services Account" umbrella.
How do I get my "Services Account" password for the first time?
Your "Services Account" username is the same as your Fermilab email username. Your password is obtained as described below:
- If you don't have a KCA certificate and/or don't even know what a KCA certificate is...
- Call Fermilab Service Desk at (630) 840-2345 to get your password. You will be given a one time password and a link to change it.
- If you have a KCA certifcate and you want to get a "Services Account" password on your own...
How do I change my "Services Account" password after the first time?

About this topic
What is the "Services Account"?
"Services Account" is built on top of Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), an application protocol for querying and modifying directory services. An example of using a directory service at the lab is our Fermilab
phonebook.
Why do I need yet another account when I already have a KCA account?
Many applications used at the lab are unable to understand how to
use KCA Certificate so you can log in.
In contrast, many applications DO understand how to use LDAP.
The "Services Account" will allow you to maintain a single username and
password for all these applications.
