The Computational Science and AI Directorate provides safe high-quality operations for Fermilab’s mission critical data centers located at:
- Feynman Computing Center (FCC)
- Grid Computing Center (GCC)
These data centers are critical to the lab’s scientific mission as our experiments depend on them to provide a reliable, accessible place to store data.
Computing ensures the lab’s data centers are both dependable and efficient. We have an ongoing commitment to incorporate energy efficiency strategies into the operations of these facilities. GCC has been awarded the Energy Star award for ten consecutive years and is the first building onsite to achieve alignment with DOE Guiding Principles for Sustainable Buildings. The data centers are designed and operated to provide very high availability for the scientific computing.
