The Computing Division will continue to provide support for Office 2003 and recommends that you wait to install Office 2007 on production machines until your scheduled roll out has occurred.

The Computing Service Desk will provide basic support and encourages future users to take a tour via the Web of Office 2007 and to attend upcoming training (TBD).

The Computing Division  will support Word 2007, Excel 2007, PowerPoint 2007 and Outlook 2007, which are part of the Office 2007 suite.  The Computing Division does not support Access, Communicator, Groove, InfoPath, OneNote, Publisher, and Visio from this suite of products.

System Requirements

Below are the requirements needed in order to run Office 2007 at Fermilab.

• Computer/Processor: 1 GHz
• Operating System: Microsoft Windows(R) XP with Service Pack (SP) 2, Windows Server(R) 2003 with SP1 or later operating system
• Memory: 1 GB
• Disk Space: Minimum of 2 GB: a portion of this disk space will be freed after installation if the original download package is removed from the hard drive.
• Additional requirements:
  • Display: 1024X768 or higher resolution monitor
  • Certain inking features require running Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition or later. Speech recognition functionality requires a close-talk microphone and audio output device. Information Rights Management features require access to a Windows 2003 Server with SP1 or later running Windows Rights Management Services.
  • 512 MB RAM or higher recommended for Outlook Instant Search. Grammar and contextual spelling in Word is not turned on unless the machine has 1 GB memory.

How To Obtain

• For our supported customers, Office 2007 will be installed via SMS according to the Office 2007 migration schedule. Our supported customers include anyone with a Fermilab owned computer running a Microsoft OS.
• After the migration, all newly setup desktops and laptops will contain Office 2007 unless other arrangements have been made.
• Customers that would like additional Microsoft Office 2007 products should submit a request to the Service Desk at http://servicedesk.fnal.gov or 630.840.2345. The request should include a project task code.

Purchase:

• Office 2007 is purchased through the Fermilab enterprise agreement with Microsoft.

Using
