Microsoft Home Use Program

As a benefit of the Microsoft Enterprise Agreement (EA), Microsoft provides a combination of benefits that include new version rights, the Employee Purchase Program (EPP), Home Use Program (HUP) and more.
 
The Home Use Program (HUP) allows Fermilab employees the ability to obtain a copy of the Microsoft Office Suite software they are using at the laboratory to install on their home computers. Allowing them to work at home with confidence in the compatibility of documents they create.
Supervisors with task code authority are responsible for making the request and then informing their employees the software request has been submitted. The software should only be distributed for employees that are working at home on Fermilab related business.
 
The webform will be submitted to the license manager, from there an email will be sent to the employee and a cc: to the supervisor instructing the employee they may come to pick up the software either at the service desk at the WH Ground Floor or the PREP counter at FCC1.
 
The employee will need to pick up his/her own software. At that time they will need to read and sign off on the Terms & Conditions .
 

Guidelines

• Participation in the Home Use Program ends with expiration or termination of the enrollment under which the eligible software was enrolled in Software Assurance (SA).
• Home Use Rights licenses for any given program may only be granted to employees who are users of licensed copies of that program with active SA under the enrollment.
• You may only order software for which you are a licensed user at work.  This license must include active Software Assurance coverage.  You may use this software only while you remain employed by your current employer and while your license has active Software Assurance coverage
• You may not sell or transfer this software to anyone else.
  
• Employees are limited to a single Home Use Rights license for any given program.
• The Home Use Rights license ties employees' usage rights to continued employment with your organization and ends with termination or expiration of the enrollment under which the eligible program was enrolled in SA.
• Customers must provide information needed to authenticate employees when enrolling in the Home Use Program and only notify eligible employees that they qualify for the benefit.
• The employee is at least 18 years of age

80/20 Rule

• Installed on your machine at Fermi is Microsoft Office and you need to do some work at home (the rule applies if the machine is Fermi owned or personal machine), you may purchase the same application utilizing the HUP Program to run office on your machine at home (personal or Fermi owned).
• Keep in mind if the machine at home will be utilized more than 20% of the time, if you are working 2 days at Fermilab and 2 days at home, then the home machine is a primary machine so a full license must be purchased.
