Proprietary Product Request Form

Our contract with the vendor determines how and where the products can be made available. In some cases, we have a "site license" which allows the product to be used on any machine on site. In other cases, we have a "site license" that applies oly to Fermilab-owned machines. In other caes, we have purchased a specific number of licenses, one of which may be made available to you depending on the arrangement your group/ experiment has made with the Computing Division.

Licensed (proprietary) software is obtained by the laboratory for your use. Most of this software carries with it explicit (sometimes implicit) legal restrictions as to who, what, where, when, and how the software may be used. When you obtain such software from the Computing Division for a particular platform, that software should be used on that platform only and not copied. It should be assumed that you may not make or take a copy away with you unless you have permission to do so. Most software now has legal protection under patent or copyright law.
