DPE 2_0_0

We are pleased to announce the availability of DPE 2_0_0 release of Distributed Processing Environment tools for the CMS Pre-Challenge Production.

DPE2_0_0 includes the DPE-master suite and the DPE-client suite. The DPE-master suite consists of McRunjob and MOP, the set of tools to create and submit jobs for CMS pre-challenge production over the Grid. The DPE-client suite provides software for the client sites, which receive and run job, and it is based on the VDT 1.1.9 Release.
CMS application CMKIN 1.0.2 is added for test purposes.
To facilitate ease of deployment all software in this release is distributed using Pacman packaging tool. Special thanks to Bockjoo.

Changes compare to previous DPE1_5_1 release

  3. Supported platforms:
    linux-fermi-7.3
    linux-redhat-7.3

DPE Master suite

McRunjob fin140703
MOP pre5DPE2_0

DPE Client suite

Pacman
VDT_119
cmkin_1_0_2
vo-client-dpe (1.5 )
configuration monitoring (v0.09)
voms client (1.1.16)
doe certificates ( DOEGrid certificates, override VDT119 DOEGrid certificates)

Applications

It is used to install CMS application software
DPE1_5_1 ans DPE2_0 both include CMKIN_1_0_2 distribution as a test application.

DPE VO-master

Installs a VO LDAP server, its is already installed and configured at FNAL for uscms testbeds on ldap://ramen.fnal.gov.
It could be installed elsewhere for test purposes, and vo-client-dpe from DPE Client suite could be used in conjunction to test it.

DPE VOMS

VOMS is an EDG componenet, and is an Authorization System for Virtual Organizations. It is already installed and configured at FNAL for uscms testbeds and no new installation is required. The voms client from DPE client suite could be used to work with it.

Installing DPE 2_0

All DPE components are distributed using Pacman package manager.
if you do not have Pacman, you can install and setup pacman 1.208 version using
this script

To simplify future minor updates to the DPE2_0_0, we provide distribution from the cache

http://computing.fnal.gov/cms/software/DPE/DPE2_0
Note: this cache does not specify the complete version number.
The content will be subsequenty updated to the following minor releases, and those who install from this cache will be able get the updates without re-installing the whole release. This is a recommended procedure.

(The original DPE2_0_0 will stay in the http://computing.fnal.gov/cms/software/DPE/DPE2_0_0 cache).

Installing DPE Master suite

At USCMS testbeds, DPE master is only operated at Fermilab.
But it can be installed any where.
  1. mkdir prod-ops (or whatever you call it "my-prod-test" ?)
  2. cd prod-ops
  3. pacman -get http://computing.fnal.gov/cms/software/DPE/DPE2_0:DPE-master
Please follow instructions at
http://home.fnal.gov/~anzar/MOP_MASTER/DPE20ProdOpsManual.html for operational details.

Installing DPE Client suite

DPE-client suite must be installed on the head node in all MOP Worker sites.
The installation should be visible to all worker nodes in the cluster.

  1. mkdir <your dpe 2.0 directory>
  2. cd <your dpe 2.0 directory>
  3. pacman -get http://computing.fnal.gov/cms/software/DPE/DPE2_0:DPE-client

Installing DPE applications suite

Each production assignment requires a specific version of CMS applications, which will be added to DPE installations time to time. Currently CMKIN_1_2_0 and CMS132 are being used and could be installed from
http://computing.fnal.gov/cms/software .

Installing DPE vo-master

VO master could be installed elsewhere for test purposes and vo-client-dpe from DPE Client suite could be used in conjunction to test it.
To install the vo-master, one can issue command pacman -get http://computing.fnal.gov/cms/software/DPE/DPE2_0:vo-master-dpe_1_5

Note: Please modify mkgridmap_conf/mkgridmap.conf_uscms according to your own needs.

Installing DPE VOMS

The voms server needs to be installed on /opt/edg and as root.
To install the server one can issue: pacman -get http://computing.fnal.gov/cms/software/DPE/DPE2_0:voms_server_1.1.16 To install the client, one can issue: pacman -get http://computing.fnal.gov/cms/software/DPE/DPE2_0:voms_client_1.1.16 This is an EDG component to authorize any person who belongs to a particular VO.
The voms server needs to be installed on /opt/edg and as root.
The client program voms-proxy-init can be put anywhere as long as the globus-user-env.sh (or globus-user-env.csh) environemnt is set up.
